Are you a transfer student?

Contact us today as we have a specialized curriculum just for you to complete in 2 years or less. Whether you’re coming from a Florida College System (FCS) institution with an A.A. degree or transferring credits from a community college or university outside the state, the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) has mapped clear, credit-efficient pathways to help you finish fast. Our dedicated transfer advising team evaluates your transcripts up front, maximizes applicable credits, and places you on an accelerated upper-division track in Broadcast Journalism, Public Relations or Graphic Communication—supported by hands-on media labs, paid internship connections, and transfer-friendly scholarships. Flexible course sequencing, summer intensives and hybrid options help you stay on pace to graduate in four semesters or fewer. Ready to plan your finish line?

Degree Details

Students in the Graphic Design program are trained by experienced faculty to master the use of both traditional and cutting-edge design tools and techniques. They learn to conceptualize and create compelling graphics across various mediums, honing their skills to effectively craft and communicate visually impactful messages to the general public.

Students in the Public Relations (PR) track are trained by experienced faculty to craft compelling messages, navigate media relations, and execute communication campaigns that positively shape the public perception of clients or organizations.

FAQs

 

We offer undergraduate degrees in Broadcast Journalism, Public Relations, and Graphic Design.

No portfolio is required for undergraduate admission, but a passion for media and communication is a plus!

Yes, SJGC offers both merit-based and need-based scholarships. Some are specific to majors, classification, and student media involvement.
