The SJGC Scholarship fosters academic excellence by awarding high achievers who are currently enrolled as journalism, public relations and graphic design majors.
The SJGC Assistance Program was established to assist full-time SJGC students experiencing financial hardships. Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credits and be a major in the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication.
The Comcast Corporation and NBCUniversal News Group have awarded the FAMU School of Journalism and Graphic Communication (SJGC) a grant to support our goal of educating future journalists and content creators, and advancing diversity and equity in media. Grantee students will possess a track record of (i) academic achievement, (ii) working in support of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and (iii) creating content reflective of diverse communities that provide insight into contemporary challenges. A specific goal of this grant is to assist enrolled students who are experiencing financial hardships. These funds may be used to help mitigate these hardships upon a student’s request. Funds may also be used to support professional development and academic opportunities for students.
The Florida Society of News Editors (FSNE) is starting the Florida Emerging Journalists Fund at FAMU SJGC. The purpose of the fund is to strengthen the pipeline of diverse journalists in Florida newsrooms. FSNE will fund two $2,000 scholarships a year for a minimum of four years.
The purpose of the Disney Storytellers Fund at FAMU is to prepare high-potential students at the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) at Florida A&M University (FAMU) to be leading communicators and innovators in journalism and media through academic engagement, professional development, and mentorship. Students selected as Scholars will receive tuition and housing scholarships, a stipend, specialized programming, mentoring, leadership development and more.
