Accreditation

Journalism
The Division of Journalism was the first journalism program at a historically black university to be nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications in 1982. The ACEJMC is the agency responsible for evaluating professional journalism and mass communications programs in colleges and universities. The Division of Journalism was reaccredited in 1988, 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2012. We celebrate full accreditation based on the following nine ACEJMC standards:

  • Mission, Governance, and Administration
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Diversity and Inclusiveness
  • Full-time and Part-time Faculty
  • Scholarship: Research, Creative and Professional Activity
  • Student Services
  • Resources, Facilities and Equipment
  • Professional and Public Service
  • Assessment of Learning Outcomes
