Division of Graphic Communication

Are you a creative, artistic visionary with a passion for making an impact with design and visual storytelling? If you dream of working in fast-paced, dynamic environments like advertising agencies, design studios, influential brands, or media platforms, the SJGC Graphic Design program is your launchpad to success.

Become a graphic design scholar and master the principles of design, innovative techniques, and industry-leading tools that empower you to bring ideas and information to life through compelling visuals.

Our Programs

When you major or minor in graphic design, you will receive a solid foundation as a visual communicator and creative director by taking insightful classes in mass media (e.g., media strategy, digital platforms and publications, and communications). You will have many opportunities to build your design portfolio, and students majoring in the program will complete a capstone project.

Living and Learning

In the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication Living Learning Community (LLC), you can live and work with other graphic design students. As you work on projects like developing marketing campaigns for internal and external opportunities, designing pages and artwork for The FAMUAN and Journey (our award-winning student-run newspaper and magazine), or creating visual elements for FAMU TV-20 and J-School Journals, you will develop an impressive, career-building portfolio.
