As director of the Innovation News Center, she led a team of industry professionals and student journalists who provide local news coverage for 19 North Central Florida counties. The award-winning INC is one of the largest student newsrooms in the country.

While at CNN Digital, Lowe was the senior editor for Features who oversaw various editorial initiatives, partnerships, and multiplatform opportunities, working closely with research, sales, and product teams. She led an editorial team that focused daily on how to best tell stories and engage audiences via text, photos, video, interactives and social media.

Before CNN, she was the editor-in-chief of JET magazine, becoming the first woman to helm the venerable African-American newsweekly. During her tenure, JET was rebranded with a redesigned publication, new website, and logo. Lowe’s print experience also extends to daily newspapers, including Newsday, where she worked as an editor and recruiter.

She has lectured on journalism, diversity and recruitment issues at various colleges and conferences. She is the co-author of "Heart and Soul: A Marriage of Love, Faith and Journalism" (monograph, 2007, World Journalism Institute) and an essayist for "Black Women Redefined" (paperback edition, 2012).

Dean Mira Lowe is a shaper of ideas, a motivator of people, an innovator who builds new things.
