Denise Hendricks joins MSNBC as Executive Producer

Denise Hendricks, a distinguished SJGC alumna, is the new Executive Producer for the two MSNBC shows, “The Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross” and “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.” After being the Senior Producer at CNN Headline News for nine years, Hendricks will be relocating from Atlanta to New York City, with her son, to begin the new position.

The proud SJGC Alumna is looking forward to creating new ideas, meeting new people and impacting storytelling moving forward, “especially thinking about all that is happening in our country.” She anticipates this change will bring about growth.

Although change is not completely new to Hendricks as this is her third time moving from Atlanta, she said that she will, however, miss living in the South.

I love the South and I will miss my friends and family who are here. I have built great relationships with people and will the spirit of community and togetherness that I’ve built for myself here in Atlanta,” Hendricks said.

Since graduating in 1992, Hendricks has had many opportunities producing in entertainment and news. Earlier in her career, she produced series and specials for CNN, “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” the I OWN network, “The Revolution” daytime talk show (NYC), and BET's late-night talk show “The Mo'Nique Show.” She found her start, however, producing for several local news affiliate stations across the country.

“It’s great to start locally to really hone in on writing, interviewing and producing skills— all the valuable skills needed for storytelling,” she said. While she is a proponent for starting locally, she said that she doesn’t discourage students from pursuing “network level” jobs if they put in the work, essentially.

Hendricks is also a member of the SJGC Board of Visitors and is an active participant in SJGC’s “Grads Are Back.” This event is a large-scale symposium that provides a way for students to network with prominent alumni. She and other handpicked alumni on the board continue their efforts to prepare students for their post graduation endeavors.
