Boeing HBCU Immersion Program

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF)

The Boeing Company is the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes, defense, space and security systems, and service provider of aftermarket support. In order to continue to develop innovative products, services, and solutions, the company needs to attract and grow talented people from all backgrounds and perspectives. Through a partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Boeing intends to develop and inspire future innovators from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

The Boeing Immersion is a highly competitive program that will bring the brightest freshmen and sophomores from Boeing’s partner HBCUs together for a three-day, comprehensive introduction to the company. Facilitated by Boeing leaders and the HBCU strategy team, this program will provide students with increased knowledge and awareness of Boeing products and services. Students will also discover the myriad of possibilities that a future career in business, IT and engineering in the aerospace industry holds. Students selected for the Boeing Immersion Program will have the opportunity to experience Boeing’s collaborative culture while giving Boeing leaders the unique opportunity to engage highly-sought freshmen and sophomores from its partner HBCUs.

Boeing HBCU Immersion Program Dates & Locations

Freshmen Immersion

  • Dates: Wednesday, March 6, 2019 – Saturday, March 9, 2019
  • Location: Boeing South Carolina (Charleston, SC)

Sophomore Immersion

  • Dates: Wednesday, March 13, 2019 – Saturday, March 16, 2019
  • Location: Boeing Puget Sound (Seattle, WA)

The Opportunity

This highly competitive program targets students currently enrolled in the following majors and functional areas:

  • Engineering
  • IT and Data Analytics
  • Finance/Accounting
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Human Resources
  • Environmental Health and Safety
  • Facilities Management
  • Math, Physics (Sciences)
  • Communications and Governmental Relations
  • Manufacturing, Business Operations & Project Management

To qualify for this opportunity, students must be:

  • Currently enrolled as a Freshman or Sophomore
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0; preferred 3.3
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to participate in, and successfully complete all program-related activities
  • Must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required
  • “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
  • Must not have any disciplinary infractions on academic record
