Dr. George L DanielsDr. George L Daniels, University of Alabama Professor has been named the Broadcast Education Associations Inaugural Faculty Fellow of Diversity and Inclusion.

Daniels this past week took the time out of his schedule to join our School of Journalism and Graphic Communication staff and share knowledge BEA. During the most recent SJGC staff and faculty meeting Daniels wanted to share what BEA stands for and how they can help continue excellence at FAMU.

As an Alumni of Howard University, it makes Daniels the perfect candidate to be in charge of diversity for BEA. During his term he plans to improve relationships with HBCU programs as well as inform students of various opportunities that BEA has to offer. Whether through scholarships or for HBCU students to enter the Festival of Media Arts.  He goal is for students from HBCU’s and other underappreciated schools to have the opportunities and resources as other students across the country.

“As a diversity leader for the association, I would organize campus visits to non-participating HBCUs and HSIs to help faculty and students learn about all that BEA has to offer,” said Daniels.  “Also seek some commitments for these institutions to take advantage of their free institutional membership.”Dr. George L Daniels

Daniels currently serves as Associate Professor at the University of Alabama, where he focuses on Multimedia Reporting, Sports, and Media Management. Before joining the Roll Tide family, Daniels attended the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, where he obtained his masters and Ph.D. degree in mass communications.  Daniels will serve a two-year term as Faculty Fellow of Diversity and Inclusion for BEA. He is already at work in his new position and his peers are excited for the programs and initiatives he creates during his term.
