Valerie White

Dr. White received her doctor of philosophy degree in mass communication from the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism; her master of science in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism; and her bachelor of arts degree in mass media arts from Hampton University.

Dr. White has taught the following courses: Reporting I, II and III; Introduction to Mass Media, Language Skills for Media Professionals, Professional Development Colloquium, Senior Capstone Colloquium, Leadership/Media Management, among others.

This qualitative researcher’s interests are South African media and how U.S. media shape the perceptions of blacks.

Her awards include the Barry Bingham Sr. Fellowship given by the National Conference of Editorial Writers, the Distinguished Adviser Award given by College Media Advisers and FAMU Teacher of the Year.
