Hsuan Huang

Assistant Professor of Public Relations

Dr. Hsuan Huang joined the SJGC faculty as an Assistant Professor in Public Relations in 2018. She earned her PhD in Communication with a specialty in Advertising and Public Relations from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She received a MA in Public Relations from Ohio State University.

She has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in marketing, public relations, advertising, integrated marketing communication, visual communication and quantitative research. With her Asian background and international experiences, she hopes to bring multicultural perspectives to SJGC students.

Her research interests are in the areas of health communication, social media, communication technology, and health promotion in virtual environments. Her recent research projects focus on the study of supportive communication in social media, and the impact of Covid-19 on college students. She has been a reviewer for book and journal publication, and premier conferences such as Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Her industry experiences include working for McCann-Erickson Public Relations agency and corporate marketing departments. She also had faculty internship with J. Walter Thompson advertising agency and a full-service marketing group, Anthology Marketing Group in Honolulu, Hawaii.
