From the Dean
Welcome to the exciting 2013-2014 academic year at Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication.
We are excited about our new class of freshmen students who represent the some of the best and brightest minds in the country. The SJGC Class of 2017 was skillfully recruited based on their academic, community service and leadership accomplishments. The SJGC freshmen collectively made a commitment to work smart during their matriculation at FAMU to gain full entry into their journalism or graphic communication programs at the completion of their first 30 hours with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
These freshmen join an outstanding school of students enrolled in SJGC. SJGC students are award-winning student journalists, public relations and graphic designers. Students receive up-to-date and dynamic instruction from faculty members who are dedicated to fulfilling the university’s motto, “Excellence with Caring.”
SJGC is fortunate to welcome new faculty members to its ranks in the fall 2013-2014 academic year. They bring fresh perspectives, considerable professional experience and appropriate academic credentials to their new assignments in SJGC. The “new” and veteran faculty provides strong leadership to reach SJGC’s mission to develop our students to achieve meaningful positions in a myriad of communication and graphic design areas.
SJGC’s present and future endeavors mirror the statement often declared by FAMU’s Interim President Larry Robinson often declares, “Great things are happening at FAMU every day.”
I invite you to learn more about SJGC and join us on our great journey that focuses on student success!
