Ernest Jones, FAMU-TV 20 Director, Retires After 30 Years with SJGC

Please join me in celebrating the retirement of Mr. Ernest Jones, director of television for Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University’s FAMU-TV 20, on this day, January 31, 2018.

As a dedicated servant and leader in the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication, Mr. Jones has been employed at the school for 30 years, starting as an instructor of journalism in 1989 and rising to the role of director of television in 1998. For the past 20 years, Mr. Jones has led our educational access channel, providing programming from FAMU of our research, engaging our students in learning TV production skills and bringing the stories of underserved and underrepresented communities to the Tallahassee region.

Ernest Jones has also worked closely with Professor Kenneth Jones and the journalism program to give students on-air and production experience with FAMU-TV 20, including live news casts, magazine shows and documentaries.

"Ernest has been a great part of our student broadcast projects for more than two decades and we thank him greatly for his service," said Professor Jones.

Please join me in saying a warm thank you to Ernest Jones for all of his contributions to the legacy of the school and our students. And help me send him on his way with blessings and God speed for his path ahead.

Sincerely,

Dean Michelle Ferrier
