Distinguished SJGC Alum Keith Miles is named Director of Communications for FAMU

Keith MilesSince Feb. 1, 2020 Keith Miles has been interim Director of Communication for Florida A&M University. Recently FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., named Miles the director of the Office of Communications. The FAMU Office of Communications manages the schools marketing, communications, publications, as well special events that take place on “The Hill”.

Robinson discussed how under Miles’ leadership, the Office of Communications has performed seamlessly and has done a great job in performing as a unit. Since the pandemic Miles has done a great job in controlling the internal and external communications of the University.

As stated by Robinson, Miles and his team have done a great job in telling the FAMU story.

“We have challenges ahead, but I am pleased to have Keith play a major role in crafting the FAMU narrative and leading a highly capable team of professionals,” said Robinson.

Miles is no stranger to FAMU and has been giving the university his communication expertise for several years. Even in SJGC, Miles is recognized as a Thelma Thurston Distinguished Alumnus. The Distinguished Alumnus Award is given to successful alumni who have made extraordinary contributions to the field of journalism and their communities.

Some of his other accomplishments include being a former FAMU deputy athletic director as well as director of Alumni Affairs from 1991 to 1999. Miles is also the former general manager of WANM 90.5, “The Flava Station”.

I am honored to have this opportunity to serve my alma mater. Florida A&M University is an integral part of my life’s story and I work with an outstanding team daily,” said Miles. Miles stated how he loves the opportunity to not only work for his alma mater but is thankful to have the opportunity to work with a hardworking and dedicated team while telling the stories of “The Hill”.
